Manufacturing

Our Process

For each product we make, we carefully source premium full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. Examining each hide to find the right spots to begin tracing and cutting out the pieces by hand.

Saddle-Stitching

Each product is saddle-stitched by hand using traditional techniques. Saddle-stitching is the preferred method still used today by saddlemakers for its durability and strength. Even if the thread snaps or gets cut the stitching won't unravel.

Edge-Burnishing

To finish each edge we use a combination of techniques to achieve a smooth rounded edge. Each edge is finished with locally sourced natural beeswax providing a clean, water-resistant shine.

Conditioning

Before we ship each product we treat our leather using all natural Smith's Leather Balm. Made from only three natural skin-care ingredients, it is safe enough to use as a hand salve or lip balm. The added step of conditioning your leather begins the patina process as well as enhancing the natural grain of each piece.
